Helmke Drum

Helmke Drum (particle test generator)

A Helmke Drum applies to testing particle shedding of clothing (particle concentration) after cleaning, sterilizing, and drying in a cleanroom laundry.

Its working principle is: place the garments that have been cleaned, sterilized, dried, and air showered into a drum, which should then be turned on to rotate at a certain rate. The garments will tumble due to rotation of the drum, releasing fibers and particles from the surface of garments. A probe connected to an automatic particle counter at the outlet of the drum transports the suspending particles from the drum to the counter through airflow. Then the counter calculates the particle shedding amount of garments in the drum so as to determine their cleanliness level.
